Margarete de Soleil grew up in Western Maryland, exploring the nearby woods, quarries and Blue Ridge Mountains. Her forays into nature have remained at the heart of her artistic process: gathering and drawing from her explorations and nature collections.
Margarete has exhibited nationwide, including at The Smithsonian Institution of Natural History and the Missoula Art Museum in Montana. A summa cum laude graduate of the Maryland Institute, College of Art, de Soleil has also studied at The Maine College of Art and The New York Studio School. In the Hudson Valley, she has exhibited at the Muroff-Kotler Gallery at SUNY Ulster, Albert Shahinian Gallery in Hudson, Woodstock Artist’s Association and Museum, Woodstock School of Art, and at West Point with the Orange County Arts Foundation. Margarete’s work is in numerous private collections. In addition to her personal artistic endeavors, Margarete has been teaching art for over three decades.
